Where Is F-6, Islamabad Located ?

F-6 sits right at the foothills of the Margalla Hills, sandwiched between 7th Avenue, Main Margalla Road, and Ataturk Avenue, at a 90-degree angle to F-5 and F-7. It’s bounded by Margalla Road to the north and Nazim-ud-Din Road to the south, and it connects directly to F-5, F-7, F-8, F-9, F-10, and F-11 — which is exactly why its roads see such steady traffic.

That central position, close to the Margalla Hills and a short drive from Blue Area, is a big part of why F-6 has remained one of Islamabad’s most prestigious addresses since the city’s earliest master plan.

F-6 Islamabad's Development History

F-6 is one of Islamabad’s original, earliest-developed sectors, laid out from the start as a square grid of four residential sub-sectors around a central commercial core. It has stayed consistently upscale over the decades — home to a dense cluster of foreign embassies, think tanks, and long-established schools, alongside its well-known restaurant and retail scene.

The Four Sub-Sectors of F-6 Islamabad: F-6/1, F-6/2, F-6/3, F-6/4

F-6/1, in the southwest, is bordered by School Road and Agha Khan Road to the north, Garden Road and the China Chowk Underpass to the east, Nazim-ud-Din Road to the south, and Justice Abdul Rashid Road to the west. It’s home to F-6/1 Children’s Park, Farooqia Market — known locally for its Bengali samosas — Rifah International University’s F-6 campus on Street 39, the Islamabad National Press Club, a football ground behind the OGDCL headquarters, and Islamabad Model School for Girls.
F-6/2 covers the northwest, bordered by Margalla Road, Hill Road, School Road, and Justice Abdul Rashid Road. It’s home to Islamabad Model College for Girls-Shalimar College, Islamabad College for Girls F-6/2, and Christian Colony, locally known as “100 Quarters.” Its small market is Firdous Market.

F-6/3 covers the northeast, bordered by Margalla Road, Ataturk Avenue, Agha Khan Road and School Road, and Hill Road. This is F-6’s embassy and green-space cluster — Hashoo Park (popularly called Haunted Hill Park), a Children’s Park, and CDA Park sit here, alongside the embassies of Hungary, Bahrain, and Argentina, the Consulate General of Iceland, Master Ayoub School, and a UNOPS office. Kohsar Market is the local shopping strip.

F-6/4 covers the southeast, bordered by Agha Khan Road, Ataturk Avenue, Nazim-ud-Din Road, and Garden Road/China Chowk Underpass. It’s known for its long-running second-hand furniture market, with Abbas Market as its everyday shopping strip.
F-6 Markaz, known locally as Super Market, forms the central commercial core that all four sub-sectors surround.
